Time is fast approaching when we have to decide if progress means creating things we could do without. The Report follows the G3 guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and announced the company's first-ever goals and commitments in its five strategic CRS focus areas: water stewardship, sustainable packaging/recycling, energy conservation/climate change, product portfolio/well-being, and diverse and inclusive culture. The Report is a comprehensive look at Coca-Cola Enterprises' business in the communities in which it operates.
"For the first time, we are announcing a clear roadmap with targets and goals to help us deliver on our commitment to Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability," said John F. Brock, chairman and chief executive officer. "As we continue to embed CRS throughout our business, it is playing an increasingly important role in helping us to capture operational efficiencies, drive effectiveness, and eliminate waste."
CCE has established a goal and targets for each of its five strategic CRS focus areas, including:
- Water Stewardship: Establish a water sustainable operation in which we use one liter of water for every liter of product we produce - what we call water neutrality.
- Sustainable Packaging/Recycling: Maximize our use of renewable, reusable, and recyclable resources, ultimately recycling the equivalent of 100 percent of our packaging.- Energy Conservation/Climate Change: Reduce carbon emissions in our manufacturing, fleet, sales and marketing equipment, and facilities.
- Product Portfolio/Well-Being: Offer every consumer the right product and package in the right place, at the right moment, in the right way.- Diverse and Inclusive Culture: Establish a diverse, winning, and inclusive culture.
Highlights from the Report, the company noted, include:
- Achieving the company's target of a three percent improvement in water use ratio over previous year, using 1.77 liters of water to produce one liter of product
- Launching Coca-Cola Recycling with a mission of recovering or recycling the equivalent of 100 percent of the packaging materials used by the Coca-Cola system in North America- Installing more than 20,000 energy
-saving devices in sales and marketing equipment, reducing CO2 by 28,000 metric tons- Adding glaceau, FUZE, and Campbell's products to the company's product portfolio
- Increasing the number of light sparkling and still beverages in the company's portfolio to 47 percent of our sales volume
- Spending more than US$150 million with minority- or women-owned business enterprises- Contributing US$31.5 million to community investment programs
Coca-Cola Enterprises will continue to improve its reporting capabilities and data-gathering systems. The company is committed to developing greater transparency in reporting and improving the quality and quantity of the data reported.'
Question remains, what packaging is a better option: Highly energy consuming but entirely recyclable glass bottle or not so energy consuming but littlering cans, in absence of a well developed national collection facility in most of the countries.

Indian Religious guru's were right after all. Human beings are born vegeterian and habit of eating meat is aquired. Its bad for health, bad for living, bad for the animals, bad for the earth, bad for the sustainability.
Human beings arent born meat eaters. We dont have sharp and long teeths like Lion and Tigers who are born meat eaters.
One Ton of pork and beaf is produced from four ton of vegetables, its got to do evetyhing that goes against sustainability. Besides, the cow and pig are big generators of methan which is many many times more potent green house gas than carbon di oxide.
Hence, as a policy, vegeteriasm must be promoted.
We should also avoid frozen food, packed food. They may be convenient and save some physical effort but they are definitely costlier and bad for the earth. Freezing comes at a high cost to the environment.

How can we help to get your sanity?
If killing innocent Indians (that include Muslims), even during Ramjan and speading fear among innocent hindus and muslims in India is a measure of sucess, you are sucessful. If proving that Indian intelligence is a massive failure is a measure of sucess, yes, you are very sucessful. But proving something which is inherently currupt and incompetent doesnt require much, you should recognise that. Its also true if you continue to seek this kind of sucess, Im very sure that you will most probably continue to be sucessful. In the process, some of you will also die but surely there will others who will be misguided and brainwashed to take your place.
Some of you, if not all of you, are educated and hence might have some power still to think rationally. Hence, Im feeling like writing to you.
1. Do you recognise that you consider yourself a failure in your heart and feel utterly helpless to resort to most cowardly act of killing compelete strangers and innocent people, thereby shattering many families. Those families will only have harter and curse on your lives? Do you think with those curse and hatred on your soul, Allah will have mercy on you?
2. Stop pretending that you are doing any thing in the name of Allah. No god, our god, your Allah can ask anyone to destroy his creation. No one knows if there is indeed heaven and hell but we need little maturity to recognise that heaven and hell are on this earth. Your mothers must be cursing their wombs for nurturing murderers of the worst kind.
3. You have much anger against India, it's leadership (Im myself ashmed to call it leadership!) and the plethora of injustice done to muslims. Alas, you dont recognise that they have done injustice to scores of hindus, muslims, sikhs, Indians in general. If you wish to teach them a lession, teach them a lession by directly confronting them. Do you think they care of the innocent people you kill cowardly? Only people who care for the people you kill so cowardly are their families and they havent done any harm to anyone, they are too small, too insignificant, too bogged down with the mundame daily business of survival that they can cause any harm to any community. Why are creating problem for them?
4. If you understood your religion, you will know its our duty to improve and leave a better world. You are making the world ugly, fearsome, loathsome? No good can come out of bad deeds and you will be hold responsible in the court of allah for this.
5. If you have any self confidence and faith in your manhood and believe, come out in the open and fight your battle and stop living life like rats, away from light and Allah's air. What kind of battle are you waging, hiding every moment of the day, changing your name given by your sad father, not playing with a child, not doing any daily good for anyone?
6. You know your deeds give rise fear in our heart and this fear continue to force us to look up to Bal Thakarey and Narendra Modi. Its you who are making them successful. When you shatter the normalcy of our problematic lives, we look for someone who can erase scums like you from the face of this earth. Hence, by your deeds, you make the very people you hate, stronger. Otherwise, we also would have rejected the same poeple whom you hate. So, what you are really doing is creating a devide where Muslims will be unhappy, Hindus will be unhappy. Is that really what you want? Shouldnt we work for allah for making everyone happy? If each of us work on making just our families happy, much good can come out.
7. You are playing at the hand of some fanatics and vested Interests who doesnt want India to propsper. If you really think, India is a bad place, why dont you go to a place which will give you equality? I personally hate the quality of life in India and hence will look out for a life somewhere else. Rememeber, you still live and do your dastardly deed since Indian rotis are in your stomach. You are making your mother bleed who gave you birth and sustained you. Since, you are insulting Indian police, they will get you sooner or later, you will die and no good would have come out of your life. Be a good son, make your mother proud. None of us are happy with Indian government. If you feel strong about it, go, fight with the people with whom you may have issues.
Please stop this utterly maddening deeds. We are afraid and helpless. Yes, that's true. Indian Government and police cannt protect Indian citizen, point has been proven repeatedly. What more you need to do to drive this point? Yes, Babri Masjeed shouldnt have happened but many more such thing will also start happening as a reaction to what you are doing. You are making sure Narendra Modi will be a prime minister one day and then only India may have some respite from mindless Teorrorism. You are making vast majority think like this.

Sustainability should have got far more importance by now than the way its being treated now.
Human beings are essentially selfish and we hardly can think of life beyound our next generations.
Hence, sustainability has quickly become a business opportunity and any business, to be successful, lack true honestly. Any body familiar with marketting knows that marketting is most about creating a need for something consumers dont really need.
sustainbility should be far beyound selfishness and money, it should be the vision.
what companies are doing? They continue to do what they were most doing but now increasing twisting it to their sustainability agenda.
For example for ages, every company got projects on cost reduction for energy and utility etc, companies continue to do it and just name it as sustainability initiative now a days.
Its time to wake up and give it due importance it richly deserves. Its time to make tough choices. We are yet to see anyone yet making a choice of not having a business because its against sustainability.
We arent even now seeing the big investments being made in reneawable energy and clean technologies.
Tough situations demand tough decisions. Bali roadmap is anything but a true actionable strategy.

Since, the poor traditionally got more kids, they cause irrepairable damange to the earth without meaning it, its beyound their comprehension. They have many children who arent given education and good upbringing and they grow up to have more children and continue the damage the earth. Long term education programme and rigid population control measure (they work, look at China) are something that would play a big role in sustainability.

We need a solid public opinion and drive to make our givernments listen and do what is right for our planet.

But these arent enough. So if we wish to avoid the global peril, drastic steps are needed. Will we take these steps? Im in the opinion that a time will come when we willnt have the choice of deciding if we wish to take these steps or not, we will be forced to make choices and take those steps. Im afraid since governments are not necessarily prodent and visionary, when we will be forced to take those steps, we will have to be lucky to come unscratched and definitely some people will suffer ecomonic hardship resulting from the choices that made.

Well, a time will come when short measures and half measure wouldnt be enough and we will have to ask questions like
1. Do we really need coloured water like Pepsi and coke? Should these products be marketted?
2. Does the plastic bags ease comfort of life and shouldnt it be banned?
3. Should we take with soap everyday and aplly n number of cosmetic products everyday? Should their consumption not be rationed and recommeneded for general well being?
4. Should there be something called personal cars? Shouldnt be there only mass trasansportations? Arent there people desparate to move to Singapore inspite of car prices being out of reach for most people?
5. Should people eat meat with very large carbon footprint? Shouldnt it be curtailed?
There can be few more aspects with far reaching consequence.
Drastic issues require drastic solutions. A time will come when climate change will need to be recognised as a drastic issue. Hope we will still have some time to decide and save the planet.
