I Amsterdam-part 1

I have been to Jakarta early Sept for few days and was treated to lovely grilled fish and ducks in some of the most unassuming restaurants on the side allies of Jakarta.

Saw first hand how marketting works there and a hype and awarness is created even in one of the most unglamorous product like underarm deodorant. Neatly, the actiivation operation itself was designed to creat sales. It was an eye opener on how even low income consumers succumb to the lure of products from MNCs.

This week I was in Noordwijk, Netherlands. Its a seaside small village some 40km away from much famed Amsterdam. As is always true in life, one has to get his timing right. This beach is famed to be very popular during march-June and this time around, it was just empty but for the razor shard sands flying nowhere in particular.

I was so much besotted with the notion of the city of Amsterdam that I would take a bus to Leiden and then catch the train to Amsterdam in the evening just to walk around the city, its redlight districtc, sidewalk along the various canals.

Leiden and Amsterdam looked similar except that Amsterdam was more crowded. And even Leeds appreared similar to these places so far the general appearance of these places are concerned.

Was very disappointed with redlight district. I wonder what is there to talk so much about that place except that they have turned in into a tourist attrcation. The quality of the girls left much to be desired.

Had a weed in one of the cafe, it was good, the coffe was heavenly. Dutch society is amagingly permissive. There one get two months paternity leave and even better, one month leave if you are on the job which maynt be with your wife or partner!

Had the canal ride for an hour to enjoy the shorline of the city of Amsterdam. What is Amsterdam and Holland without its canals and wind mills?

Overall, wish someday could stay there for two-three years with Prinx and Shenna! It would be nice, we could see around whole of Europe that way!
