2010!

What a year that was 2009 with huge changes in our lives! Its 2010 now and knowing enough, I didnt feel like making specific resolutions yet I feel more resolved in my guts to chase the things which are important.

A new year is like a reminder of our mortality, may be this feeling itself is a sign of ageing.

None of our thoughts and resolves are anything but transient. A year back, we didnt feel that we would want to come back to Mumbai or Kolkata but now as we completed our yearly holidays Kolkata and Mumbai, we cannt wait to come back.

Its nothing but people who keeps us rooted to a place, provided we have that choice. Out good friends from Manila now being there in Kolkata, made all the difference in our qualitative experience in Kolkata. The new year party at the DKS club is soemthing I would like to go back again and again. Some qualitative improvement on the road conditions and drop in pollution also played a role. The people(atleast some of them like anywhere else I guess) of Kolkata we met are
were welcome as we clubed in DKS during those last days of 2009!

Sitting in Kolkata malls with chai, Manila and BKK seems like distant memories. Is it the physical distance that influence the depth of our memories?

No one is independent and recession is playing havoc with everyone, may be directly or indirectly. Thus, some expats are coming back to India depardising the prospects of some of the collegues still working in India.

Shrihaan love the bengali sweet 'Rossogolla' which is what bengalee's are largly associated with and wanted more' Rossomolla'! Cannt blame him, never spent much time in Kolkata and got the name 'slightly' wrong!

2009 was quite eventful. We moved to Bangkok, three of us went through the joy and pang of settling and figuring out a new place sans friends. People who we thought would help let us down but help came from unexpected quaters. Met the monetary target we set ourselves when we left Mumbai in 2006 but realised its never a set target and now we work with another new target. Shrihaan gave us a sense of moments of joy and confidence when he did very well in his interview in BPS and got into the top groups in both maths and English in his class. I survived three months without a team and now things can only improve.

We confidently look at 2010 and believe its going to be a great year. We too pray that all sadness and sorrow disappear from the face of the earth and everyone get to celebrate life.
