Live Planning Europa holiday in 2014

Since this is more like a diary, to plan the trip, we are researching a great deal, we will make the list of useful links which will shape our plan

1. Europe is beautiful and hence will hae to make tough choices for places to visit and cost is an important aspect. Its useful to visit http://www.priceoftravel.com/1979/european-backpacker-index/ to have an idea on how costly are the cities. Since we are a family with our 11year old son, we will not exatly do backpacking but for us it set the baseline and we can decide how much above this would be acceptable to us.

2. We typically will keep full two days in each of the cities. And we find the hop on hop off bus a great way to see the must see places in a stuctured way on our own term. http://www.lonelyplanet.com/europe/activities/hop-on-hop

3. Nothing like an introduction to Europe http://www.lonelyplanet.com/europe

And then I saw price ticket for Moulin rouge with dinner at $286 per person and my hert sank! However, I quickly reasoned that it maynt be necessary for us to see the overpriced spectacle nd Europe do offer many not so pricey entertainment and more importantnly what we are looking for is a glipmse to European life.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We hope to travel to EU in 2014, here, will record the everything about how the plan evolves, useful links and actual experience when it happens.

Lust for travel is stronger for lust for money which is also a function of life stage we find ourselves now. After travelling reasonably well in South East Asia (but still having many places left to visit), Eorupe beacons. Given that we love to do holidays our own ways, we aren't keen to use conducted tours. We have done these in Asia and seems familiar to us by now. However, Europe is very different, mainly because it doesn't feel like people are that helpful there. I remember I asked someone seating beside me in a cafe in Amsterdam about train timing and I was told he didnt work in train services! Hence, we have resolved to plan it ahead. It is also hope that this will help Shennu understand some of the cities we will visit. Doing justice to Europe would take probably few months and given that we have only max 3wks, we have to make very hard choices. We also know probably we will have to visit Europe later again. Hence, the initial plan appears to be:
Places                  Days               Cost(Euro)

London                 3                    900
Zurich                   3                    900
Amsterdam             3                    900
Rome                   3                    900
Austria & Vienna  3                    900
Prague                 3                     900
Paris                    3                     900
Total                           21

Flight(Mumbai-EU-Back)          4500

Total spend (Euro)                     10800
                    INR                      810000

We are missing Geneva/Zurich/Rome/Santorini in the plan still but it holidays are so limited that we cannot squeeze all the places our heart yearns to visit.

It an ambitious plan and will need to have a huge bonus for making making this happen!!
