Koh Chang

South east Asia is littered with beaches, highlands that are breathtakingly picturisque, mystical and surreal. Yet, to us Koh Chang would always remain as one of the top five in our list of beuatiful places we have seen so far in whole of south East Asia.

Koh Chang doesnt have the profile of a Boracay or Phuket or Bali and it doesnt have the pretence measuring up to those places in their sheer decadence & commercialisation.

The beach soccer with Shrihaan was fun. I used to feel bad that he was earlier he wasnt much interested in Soccer but being a student a British School, his interest in soccer is ignited much to my appporval and happiness.

Its a very small island on the North East of Andaman Sea, bordering Laos and Cambodia.

We took a van from Bangkok and it took us around 7hrs to reach the pier. Seems it would have been a better idea to take a bus either from Airport or Victory monument which would have taken us around 5hrs to reach.

We were famished by the time we reached the Pier and a small kiosk was doing great business at selling a small sandwich at Bt 50. The added attraction for us was the foossball while waiting for launch to tak us to Koh Change island.

The launch is bit unique in that it transposted us in our van along with many other cars. Its just about 30 minutes to reach the Island.

The road is very steep and curvy at several places and was found to be dificult even to expeirnece dirvers and is prone to accidents. One needs to be careful there.

KC Grand is on the white sand beach and parhaps the best property there. Rooms were spacious, clean and inviting,

The beach was long and the breadth was just enough to have a good game of football. However, when water recedes, one have to walk for may be around 5minsute to reach the water. The sea water was warm, alluring and one could walk for around 10meters in knee deep water.

We saw the best sunset of our lives there. The sheer play of colours, the shades, the diversity and changes in the colours every minute was like one in a life time experience.

There were several sea food restaurant in the beach and few had display of fire. The beer was chilled, the food was typically thai, warm, full of aroma and flavour.

Nextday morning, was equally beautiful. We saw the sunrise and the play of the morning sun with the sand and the sea. We found water to have left its mark on the sand which we havent seen in many of the beaches we have done over the years.

We had gone there for one night, a clear mistake. On second throught, it was a mistake worth making since it ensured that we will have to go there again since we didnt have enough. Its also said that no two sunset is similar in Koh Chang and want to see it to be able to vouch for it.
