Read today a student of a premier Instinute has committed suicide because she was ditched by her boyfriendon facebook. Have also readon regular basis of young and old committing suicide. Remeber a young mother with two cherubic children in Kolkata who used to be our neighbour comitted suicide in 1980s. Have lost a dear friend to it recently.
Why people do it? Porbably who people do it when left with no hope at all. Sometimes, people do it being under huge pressure suddenly to escape a pressing problem but there are many who probably think through it over a long period of time before doing it.
If obvious signs are there, then parhaps it can be prevented by counselling. However, more often than not the signs arent obvious and goes undetected.
Who is at suicide risk? It seems it could be everyone. Sometimes sothing snaps inside one to drive it to decide on this.
Is it right? It is one of the most selfish act a person can commit. The one who does it, escapes, leaving behind a mother, a father, a borther, a sister, a wife, a son, a husband who will never recover from it and will always hold themselves resposible for the rest of the lives. They will everyday in their minds go through the missed signs and same what if analysis and blame themselves for various things they did or didnt do. But their act of suicide, they have the final words that they dont care for anyone and thrust their family into a dark abyss who will live forever in guilt. Its a punishment they given people who loved them and cared for them.
Whose fault it is? Life's tough and everyone lievs everyday facing issues, heartbreak, deceit, promises not kept and finght their indivual battles. Its indeed survival of the fittest and in the process we forget to provide enough anchoring to everyone around us. The consummerism is not helping either and we rush from mall to mall to our old age thesedays.
How to prevent it? We should learn to value every relation, express our love and raise hope in everyone. We should propagate every possible way that faith prevails, adter darnkess, sun shines and no problem is eternal. We should give love, appreciation and show compassion in abundance. Our small humane acts can prevent it from occuring, sometimes even without us knowing.
