First few weeks settling back in Mumbai

Life here is a grind. Rampant poverty also mean most of the people are always looking at pinching some money out at every occasion. The dirt is everywhere. Only corruption is more rampant. Its so hot that skin itches even at 7am. The pigeons are always Often wondering what made us to decide to move back. Small happiness that seem to have managed to create enough storage space so littering and chaos at home could be avoided.

Other disappointments have been some of the people we knew, the way they behaved. Called Bachu, talked nicely, said would come to Mumbai in April, never contacted so far. Talked to Pompa once, she called back and offered me to stay at her place if needed. Last saturday we got our goods from Bangkok and was very tired in the evening. So dreaded sleeping on the bed without mattress(got it at last on Sunday) and hope to to go to her place to get some much desired rest. Called her twice and got no response. As I thought, got a text next morning saying the phone was on silent mode and so she missed the called and asked me go over to her place for dinner at 8pm that day. Also called moon and Arindam, they said they would call back which is yet to happen. So, there is some disappointment tht people we knew and left have ceased to care and don't any more reciprocate any goodwill or warmth.

However, had lunch with Simmi and her family, our next door neighbour from Punjab. They are too inquisitive, too materialistic yet they have warmth and remember any favour we did long back which we ourselves had forgotten.

The flat is renovated and appearing nice. All the Mooney poured into this seems to have given some nice feel to the apartment. Got some of the things up and running and slowly a rhythm is setting in. Still need to buy the car, still undecided how much to spend on it given that our heart longe for life in South East Asia. We hope and dream every moment to get back the chance to have our life in Bangkok or Manila back.

Missing Dona and Shenna a lot who are living in Bangkok. Have done up his room but missing the excitement that it would have induced if he was here and saw his room. Can't want for them to come and together to continue the journey.

1. Wanted to have a place which Shenna would be able to call home and could come back even if he goes broad and study and live there
2. Cost of medical needs are quite reasonable
3. The lure of the dream to live off passive money. This wouldn't have been possible anywhere else
4. The chance to have some meaningful relationships.
5. Career growth

Only time will tell if these thoughts were right.

Meanwhile, my heart bleeds everytime I see something from Manila or Bangkok. A small note on a CD given as a parting gift by one of the friend in Manila made me melancholy just this afternoon.

Finding the Starbucks is a relief, it is taking us back to the life we loved, it doesnt look like it is in Mumbai. Doing skype from here with Dona and Shennu is also a very happy experience. Expensive place but nothing for the experience and the ecape it provided me from the reality that Mumbi is currently.

The race is on for us to live aborad again and soon!
