31st Dec, 2011
We get up early (for a holiday) around 6 am and get ready rather lazily. We leave home by 8.30 by the train to airport. We found that the bus was available at 10.30 that would take us to Jometien Beach. The nonstop bus ride was quiote pleasant peppered with seaweed flavoured chips. We reach the last bus stop and on enquery, the driver agreed to drop us at our hotel for a consideration of 40 Bhat. We would later learnt it requires money flow in the turbulent phase to get what one wants in there.
The door of our room was opened and the the sea was staring at us. Such a lovely view that we immidiately loved it.
We got ready quickly for a bite and beach.
We found a lovely restaurant on a hotel opposite to the beach. We later realised that the regular staff including the chefs of that hotel must have been on holidays. Still, the view from where we sat was lovely.
We went back to the hotel in the evening to get ready for the night out. The dinner at the sea breeze restaurant was great. Shrihaan proably became of one of the few bengalees who had banger and mashed potato for dinner there.
Meanwhile, the lanterns were all over the sea. We wandered to the beach and realsed our own lantern. The firecrackers were lightening up the sky.
We welcomed 2011 from our hotel balcony. The fireworks done at Furama hotel was spektacular and made our stay worthwhile there. We slept rather late. Dona resolved to get up early to see the sunrise.
1st Jan, 2011
Still sleeping, realised Shrihaan went to remov e the cartains, said,'Mama, sunset over' and came back to sleep some more on the bed. He was definitely tired and sleepy. We later joked about it and laughed.
It was glorious morning. The glistening sea, the slight nip in the air, the warmth of the morning sun, swaying palms, the coolness in the atmosphere and hope and prayer and faith in the mind made it a wonderful time there.
I chanted and meditated a little in the morning in the balcony.
Breakfast at Furama was good. Shrihaan got his pasta and so we were satsified. Spent the wholeday at the beach. We went out in the evening. We found a bus that took us to Pattaya. Shrihaan was very tired and had a good sleep on the bus. We didnt get down at Pattaya so had a lovely roundtrip there. The dinner at Jometien beach was again nice. Shrihaan again found and liked his Pasta.
He is eight year old, he has lived 4 years in India, there years in Philippines and slightly more than a year in Thailand. He claims he is Kiwi, influenced by his cousins living in NZ. He likes Pasta and any food Italian.
We walked back to the hotel close to 1 am. It was a long walked and I felt guilty since it was tough walking that long for Shrihaan and Dona. I had to massage Shrihaan to get him back to good mood on our return. However, we realised that he was too sensitive on his lower portion of the body and was not alatt ameanble to traditional Thai massage that I think I have learned from experience.

We got up and thought it must have been past 9am but found out that it was only 7am. We thus gained sometimes to laze in the balcony. We decided to be in the beach in the morning and later to check out. Dona wanted to go Silver lake to see the vineyard but we didnt have that much time and the taxi fare was on rather the higher side. We instead took a van to Pattaya and wandered around a bit. It was maddeningly crowded and very festive atomosphere pervaded there. We found Central and went to the top floor. The view was panoramic and we found a ocenfront table at AW to indulge in some fast food.
We caught the six pm bus back to the airport. we, specially Shrihaan was very sad leaving Pattaya, Jometien beach. We wondered why cannt we stay there forever.
