Getting the leave for the holiday in Phuket was into rough weather due to some visitors expected but eventualy was secured. These days the bookings made on budget airlines and hotels are allmost guaranteed not to be returned if the visit didnt materialise and since these are planned months ahead, the risk would always be there that for some reasons, the visit could get cancelled.
We were going to keep our date with Phuket during 18-21st Jan.
We packed our breakfast from Fraser place early monring and headed for airport. It was decided that we would go to Makasan to take the sky train to airport. We left in two taxies and Dona and myself were on the same taxi and had our mobiles. On the other taxies, Shennu was with his cousins and his uncles. We reached Makasan and they couldnt found anywhere. After sometimes, we got a call from his uncle sating they were taken to another station. While taking the phone got cut and couldnt reach again. He had said they would take the train to airport in five minutes and so we decided to wait in the station with the hope of getting togther with them. The train came and out came he, waving at us, We all rushed inside the train. Thus started our adventures in Phuket.
The air Aisa flight was on time and took us to Phuket. We booked to day trips from one of the travel agencies in the airport and after much hagglings and joking around sealed the deal. The jounrey from airport to our hotel reminded us of Palawan. Later, we would come to the conclusion that Phuket was a perfect blend of our beloved Boracay and Palawan.
The hotel wasnt on the beach and we didnt feel happy about it since it was booked. At the given price, it was quite good. We all slept off and thus wasted our first day in Phuket. The dinner was in the hotel.
We had quick breakfast next day and got picked up for our jouney to the Pier. We were going to Phi Phi Island. The road to the pier was long through the winding roads through the town. The twon had the disntinct feel of a small toursit place, it could be anywhere like Kodaikanal or Mossuirie. We were taken to the launch which was very full with people of many nationalities, except parhaps Thais. We were provided light entertainment for a young british guys who was getting drunk very very very soon.
We were taken to the money bay for snorkling. Shennu surprised us by effortlessly getting down and swiming around seeing the delightful corals and the multicouloured fishes. We didnt bring any towels from the hotels, so on return went to the deck to get sun dried. Its not normal for Asians to sun bath but I seems to have the fetish of getting darkened from exposure to sun. I quite like the brown skin that anyone who spends time of the beaches seem to poessess. The lunch was on the Phi Phi Island and if we could replan the visit, probably we would spend a night there. The white sand, the blue sea with knee deep water for miles, the swaying coconut trees, the utter silence was very inviting. As if time had stood still there even though one had to pay 10 Bhat to use the toilet.
The plan was to go to the Patong beach as soon as we came back to the hotel. A mere 10minutes walk from the hotel, we loved the beach at first glance. We were into the water quickly and since didnt have a ball, played throw ball for sometimes with an empty beer can. It wasnt safe, not right but lot of fun. Shrihaan showned he was as good as anyone in this game. We joined th some guys for a round of beach soccer afterwards.
We had a plan to go to to James Bond Island next day. The boat ride was not that long and the place was beautiful. The lunch at the water houses had a different earthy touch to it. The walk down the Soi Bangla was an alltother different experience. The place was pulsating with music, colour and commerce.
All through the bottle of black label was coming further down.
Dona desparately wanted to do some water sports. We went early next day for jet ski. The sea had a different colour in the early morning and we were enchanted. I fulfilled by desire to jog on the beach. For someone who doesnt how to swim, any water sport is not that inviting. Yet, enjoyed the jet ski.
Dona he her sister along with Dinks and Abhijay had massage. The car was waiting to take us to the aiprort for our journey back to Babgkok.
