Since we came to Manila August, last year, we kept on hearing that there is a very close knit Bengali community in Manila and was keep to get into that circle as they were suppossed to have frequent get togethers and also were known to celebrate different festival.
Amit Ray, whom I first met in his blog site introduced to Nirlamda through an email. Next two month nothing happened as I guess lot of the people were on holidays and thus travelling.
Suddenly got a mail from him inviting us to his home last satuday. The mails were gentle and very welcoming. We wnt there andd it was such a pleasant surprise to meet such a perfect gentleman and his family. We not for once felt that it was the first time we were meeting them. Their warth, hospitality and gentleness made us feel very much at home in their beautiful house.
Shrihhan played with an unclee, he found there.
There were others also. It was an enjoyable evening.
Just as reminder that everything cannt be perfect, there was another bengali family, whose snobishness was something we could do without.

Mantai - wanted to check if there is any durga puja in manila?
Unfortunately no formal puja in Manila. Though a small cumnumity Puja is performed partucularly on Astami at someones house.

Thanks for your note. Since there is no formal puja, mainly one can get involved if he/she knows someone in the community. There are lot of Indian families in Salcedo Village and if you happen to live there, you will definitely meet and make friends with some of them. All the best.
