Politicians are politicians. But even in the third world country like India, politicans cannt get away publicly lieing, they do try to peddle unthruths but there are media and citizens who will rise against it and generally politicians cannt get away with blatant lies.
The problem in India is really that vast majority of people are uneducated and poor and hence either gullible or curruptible or both. Thats how the Indian democracy is flawed and India stagnants as thieves, murderers and currupt rule the roost. Yet, the democracy limps on in India.
But politicians cannt get away peddling blatant lies.
But it seems in USA, politicians can lie through their teeth and still they will have their followers, even worse their following can buge if we go by the 70Mn votes Trump garnered.
Trump mishandled the pandemic. Scores of people died. Yet, he peddled that the pandemic is nothing but hoax.
Trump didnt pay any tax.
Trump's had scores of memebers in his team who went to jail or left in ignomy.
Trump peddled so many lies.
Trump seaprated children from their parents.
Trump insulted blacks, hispanics, latinos.
Yet, he got lot of votes.
Media sadly is biased in every country. Same news in Times of India and NDTV will lead the reader to different conclusions. It is no different in USA. Foxnews (something is in the name- if Fox could do soemthing about it, they would have done it) peddles illogical, wrong informations to paint right as wrong and wrong as right. Its same every where. Bias is given. Even a respected news paper like Guradian is biased towards left and see'es everything with a leftist glass.
It brings to the question of education. What is education if not building the abilities to synthsise disparate, muddled informations into something that is logical and right. As we grwo up, we do develop biases. But so long we are aware of the biases and reason for it, we should be able to know right from wrong. Education is the abilities to balance the shortterm and lognterm, it is the ability to side with right over evil.
Trump is evil. Foxnews is evil. These leads me to conclude the 70mn that voted for Trump are not educated enough to know what is good for themselves and their children.

It doesn auger well for America. The democrates need to focus on the education system and the educators if they wish America to progress in centuries to come.
